Dental Care
We consume certain foods every day. And these foods leave some plaque on our teeth. The plaque begins to build up on teeth within a few minutes after eating. If teeth are not clean after that, this plaque will lead to tooth decay or gum disease. Over time, it will lead to infected, swollen caries. Thorough oral hygiene after every meal is essential; we need to brush our teeth at least two times a day.
What is plaque?
Plaque is a thin, sticky film of bacteria that constantly forms on your teeth. If you mention you always take care of your teeth very well and still see your teeth’ color. Because the yellow color is hard to remove by regular brush, you need to visit the Dat Dental office one or two times every 6 months to get the deep teeth cleaning.
That yellowish color comes from plaque, a filmy substance made out of bacteria. And plaque accumulates on your teeth both above and below your gum line. So you may find it unsightly, but what’s more, it can damage your teeth and gums if it’s not removed.
Why do you need to remove plaque?
Yellow stains on your teeth will make you lack confidence in communication, no aesthetics. . If you didn’t take care your teeth well every day, over time, it leads to tooth decay, toothache, and swollen. Take action immediately, visit us to check your teeth status and find effective methods for treatment.
How to take care of the teeth?
Healthy teeth are clean and have no cavities. Healthy gums are pink and firm and do not bleed. You can follow these steps:
- Always brush your teeth every day, twice a day in the morning, and before you go to bed.
- Use floss at least once per day after you finish brush your teeth because the floss helps you clean deeply and removes plaque left behind after brushing from between the teeth and on the gums.
- Need to replace the brush every 2 or 3 months.
- Do not eat foods that are too hard cause they will easily cause damage to teeth such as chipping or breaking.
- Schedule regular checkups with your dentist. Many dentists recommend having the teeth professionally cleaned every 6 months for optimal oral health. Seeing the dentist every 3 to 4 months may be needed if your gums become unhealthy.
Common Conditions Due to Lack of Teeth Care:
Gum Disease
Gum disease, also known as Periodontitis, refers to an infection of the gum. The infection damages the gum’s soft tissue, leading to the destruction of the jaw bone. When untreated, gum disease can lead to wiggly teeth and eventually complete tooth loss.
Fortunately, gum disease can be preventable with the right dental help. Along with a good routine of healthy dieting, brushing and flossing regularly, and using a mouth rinse, you can also catch gum disease early to prevent it from worsening.
One of the first sides of gum disease is developing gingivitis, which manifests as sore and reddened gums often accompanied by bleeding. Symptoms of gingivitis can be easily confused with the repercussions of brushing or flossing too hard. It’s important to notice the difference.
After recognizing your own gingivitis, you can reverse the effects by careful brushing and flossing every day.
In the untimely event that your gum disease progresses, Dat Dental Center can treat it through scaling. The scaling process involves scraping off unwanted tartar around your gum line. Another technique known as root planing is when rough areas of your tooth’s roots are smoothened out.
Tooth Cavity
Cavities, sometimes called decays or caries, may occur due to an array of different problems. For example, cavities may result from harmful bacteria accumulating inside your mouth, frequent consumption of sugary snacks, or poor hygiene.
Once a cavity takes root, improving oral hygiene can reverse the effects of early demineralization, which breaks down teeth. Drinking tap water over bottled water may provide additional unexpected benefits. Unliked private bottled water, public water companies often use supplemental fluoride. This helps reduce the rate of tooth decay. Anti-cavity foods may also include fresh fruits and vegetables that encourage saliva flow and wash away food particles.
In special cases, dentists may also prescribe antibacterial treatments for patients with medical conditions that make them more vulnerable to tooth decay.
Tooth cavities, without treatment, become irreversible when the decay breaches the dentin area. If a cavity takes over an entire tooth, the tooth will eventually die as the nerves, and blood vessels die off. Consequently, the diseased portion of the tooth or the entire tooth must be removed. After removal, a restoration filling or crown can be implanted.,
Cracked Tooth
Contrary to popular belief, biting on hard foods is not the only way to get a cracked tooth. Cracked teeth may also occur due to grinding your teeth or simply from a changing body in old age. In the United States and other industrialized nations, cracked teeth are one of the leading causes of tooth loss.
Mild cases of cracked teeth do not usually result in those severe consequences. Oftentimes, minimal cracks in the teeth will actually self-repair. This repair process is called remineralization, which refers to the restoration of the mouth and tooth minerals. In some cases, a cracked tooth and its repair may go completely under the radar if any noticeable pain does not accompany the crack.
Unlike other afflictions, cracked teeth are not characterized by a constant presence of pain. Pain may be sporadic or only occur when chewing in a certain way. You may also notice signs of infection. To check for gum line infections, look for small bumps near the designated tooth.
The treatment for a cracked tooth depends on the individual and their specific symptoms. Around 20% of all cracked teeth require root canals. More dangerous instances may require complete tooth removal and tooth implants or bridges.
