Emergency Dental Treatment

Emergency Dental Treatment is available at Dat Dental.

At Dat Dental, we know that dental emergencies don’t come with warnings. Therefore, we schedule walk-in times into our schedule sheets every day. That way, when toothache strikes, patients can call in that morning and get an appointment either that day or, at the latest, the next working day. We don’t tell you to come in and wait all day with the “hope” that we can squeeze you in — we get you in.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Cause of a Toothache

There are several causes of toothache found by dentists after some dental examinations. And, tooth decay is the most common, but other causes may include a tooth abscess, inflammation of the tooth pulp, gum disease, a cracked or broken tooth, or exposed tooth root. A wisdom tooth is a prevalent cause of tooth pain, as there is often not enough room for this type of tooth to grow properly. While there can be some relief through home toothache remedies or over-the-counter medications, eventually, the “root cause” of the pain will need to be addressed.

Treatment for Toothache

There are several ways that a dentist will determine the cause of your pain and the best treatment for it. If the pain is due to tooth decay, the decayed area will be removed, and a filling will be placed. If the pain is due to problems with the tooth’s root, then a root canal may be in order. If the tooth is impacted or the above methods will not work, tooth extraction may be required.

How Long Should You Wait Before You See a Dentist?

Most tooth pain will only get worse. You should see our dentist as soon as possible, not only to find some relief for your pain but also to prevent any more damage to the tooth or pulp. Some complications might occur, as well, if the situation is not corrected. If a decayed tooth is not properly treated, it could lead to severe infection, spread to the sinuses or jaw bone, or even blood poisoning.

Prevention

To prevent tooth decay or other problems associated with toothache, you should maintain proper oral hygiene. This included brushing and cleaning your teeth at least twice a day, flossing once a day, and seeing a dentist twice a year for examinations and professional oral cleaning.
